A pair of Rollers Coracias garrulus nested in a cavity excavated by the Eurasian Green Woodpecker Picus viridis in this dead poplar. Low on the left trunk a nestbox was installed for Rollers in early June 2007 by the Nature Reserve personnel. After a few hours the box was taken up by a bee swarm that made it unusable by any other species. The nesting cavity was not monitored but adults were regularly seen entering it with food items throughout the breeding period.
